ITaBW for Professionals and Providers

Together we spend 17 weeks deeply exploring our understanding of why people may show us they are having a hard time, stressed or distressed from a contemporary human rights, relationship, regulation and neurobiological lens. We will talk about and plan for support from a person centred, neurodiverse affirming and wellbeing approach, allowing professionals and providers to establish a cultural lens of embedding support in everyday practice to meet people’s needs and therefore increase the wellbeing of the people we support and a reduction in behaviour that can concern others.

ITaBW Card Set

The ITABW card set is a uniquely designed resource to assist with exploring a person's needs and the identification of possible Restricted Practices.

Many families have been using this card set with great success in their planning with teams supporting people with a disability.

Strong Families

In 2019, Microboards Australia and Uniting Care West partnered to develop a series of frameworks, resources and tools to support a culturally informed discussion about restrictive practices and supporting people who may show the challenges they face through behaviour we can find difficult. These resources were developed based on the original ITaBW card set along with the Restrictive Practice ‘what are your rights’ easy read and plain English versions of the Code of Practice for the Elimination of Restrictive Practices, WA Department of Communities.
